G. What do some studies say?

Studies available in Stem Cell Therapy

1. Elbow Arthritis
35% improved at walk
30-35% improved at trot
15-25% less stiffness
15% less noticeable pain on joint manipulation
30-40% improved overall

2.  Hip Arthritis    Decreased lameness at walk and trot
Overall physical exam score of 45-55% for control group / 60-65% for Stem cell group

3.  Chronic Stifle Arthritis (post surgery)   lameness went from moderate to mild within 30 days post stem cells.

4. Goat studies:  Scientists purposely caused cruciate ligament ruptures in a population of test animals and controls. They followed these goats to 6 weeks (9) and 20 weeks (15). At these periods they euthanized the goats and examined the differences in their knees post stem cells (therapy group) and with no therapy (control group).  They found a significant difference in their knees. The stem cell group knees had a lot less inflammatory disease, had protected tibial plateaus instead or eroded ones and there was evidence of  ligament repair where the ligament attaches to the bone.

5. Most of the information collected is from personal experience vs double blinded studies.  There are many very satisfied proponents for this therapy.  This data is subjective and not scientific since it is really hard to find and collect animals that are similarly affected, so that you’d have enough for a control group and a treatment group. Any variability to either population could significantly skew the results of the study.
