Pets fall into 2 general groups.
1. Pets that don’t have a cheaper alternative or have had poor responses to other cheaper therapies.
- pets that can not tolerate NSAID’s (due to a concurrent illness)
- pets who need prednisone or similar drug due to allergies or other illnesses
- pets with severe osteoarthritis that are on a whole cocktail of medications (NSAID’s, Tramadol, gabapentin, OFA’s, Cartrophen, Glucosamine, diet, etc) and still are not adequately moving, jumping or getting up well.
2. People who choose this option instead of, or as an addition to, conventional medicine.
- owners wanting more holistic options, this may well be a young dog.
- agility dogs – this group of owners seek the therapy out for their dogs.
- Cranial Cruciate Rupture cases- as an adjunct to surgery to reduce scar tissue, enhance healing and reduce/ delay arthritis developing in the stifle
- pet owners who want to try everything available to help their pets.
- dogs with ligament, tendon and muscle tears/ injuries.
- liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease, other systemic problems (all very much unknown on efficacy, but some promising results have occurred).
