Our veterinary team uses the highest degree of care and efficiency to safely perform surgeries.
Surgery can be overwhelming for both owners and their dogs or cats. Our team is here to support you before, during, and after the procedure, ensuring a smooth recovery for your pet. We will thoroughly discuss all aspects of the surgery, addressing any questions and concerns you may have. Rest assured, your dog or cat is in the best hands in the industry!
Our veterinary team takes every precaution so that your dog/cat receives the highest-quality care. We perform a physical exam and pre-anesthetic testing before surgery and consistently monitor your dog or cat during surgery. During the procedure, a veterinary technician will continually assess their heart and respiratory rate, blood pressure, and other vital signs to help prevent any anesthetic risk. We also provide appropriate pain medication to keep them comfortable during and after recovery and recommend take-home pain medications as required.
The night before your pet's surgery, please remove any remaining food from their dishes. It's acceptable for them to have water overnight, but they should not have breakfast on the day of the surgery, as the anesthesia can upset their stomach. On the scheduled surgery day, you can drop off your dog/cat between 7:00 am and 7:30 am. When you arrive at the hospital, a staff member will provide you with a detailed explanation of the procedure. You will then sign an authorization form, allowing the veterinary team to proceed with the necessary procedures. It's important to provide a contact number in case of emergencies. If you wish to receive updates on your pet's surgery or recovery throughout the day, feel free to call. A staff member will be glad to provide you with information about your pet's well-being.
Pick-up times vary depending on the procedure and when your dog or cat’s surgery has been completed. A staff member will call once all surgeries have been completed (early afternoon) and inform you of the earliest time the patient can go home. Owners have from the time given until closing (7:00 pm) to pick up their dog/cat. Some surgeries may require the patient to stay overnight to allow the veterinarian to check the following morning for any signs of complications. When you come to pick up your pet, a Veterinary Technician will go over a post-surgery care sheet for you to take home, outlining the specific care your pet requires during recovery. If you have any questions about surgical procedures, please contact us at 613-748-9820.
